Aiyana Porter

Level: PhD

Role: PhD Candidate

I received my undergraduate degree from Williams College in psychology, political science, and Africana Studies. I engaged research on topics such as stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination; poverty; environmental racism; adverse childhood experiences; and Black women's experiences with and resistances to neoliberal displacement.

My current research focuses on the role of dehumanization, and other factors that influence decision making in New York parole contexts. My research interests include perceptions of legitimacy (re: policing and incarceration); autobiographical storytelling and intergenerational solidarity; and engagement with liberatory collective action.
